my personal headcanon re: andrews medication and why it doesnt act like a real world medication is that it was an experimental drug that later gets banned by the fda due to the side effects and how high it made the users. it gets banned like a year after andrew comes off it and he doesnt really care but neil is extremely angry on his behalf about the fact that it had ever been allowed in the first place
