saw some fanart where the details give kevin an x-men shirt and a spider-man sticker on his laptop and it made me think about how kevin WOULD be a comics fan. comic books often have crazy amounts of lore and in universe history that contradicts itself all the time, informed by the real world history and details of writers changing constantly and the politics of the world at the time influencing what theyre writing about. kevin would get to make timelines of the stuff going on in-universe AND cross-reference it to the real world to see what influenced the run or singular issue. hed lose his shit and have so much fun with it. this example is dc and not marvel but hed adore the death of superman/reign of the supermen/return of superman era so much imo. its such a good arc. hed also like jason todd i think because of the death poll and him later being brought back. and all the timeline stuff with the flashfam would fascinate him. i dont know much about marvel though so i cant say which marvel characters hed like. most likely captain america and bucky barnes because of the origin stories being history based? i know more about dc sorry

also im imagining he got into comics after joining the foxes because he wasnt allowed to pursue too many interests in the nest. im not sure how they first catch his eye. maybe someone suggests it to him? maybe he sees a history of comics video online? or maybe kayleigh would read them with him before she died and hes reconnecting with it now that he has the freedom to do so

its probably the x-men movies that get him, then. i imagine hes able to talk about it with the foxes more than he can with his history obsession because at least some of them share an interest in the comics or at least the movies. i can see matt liking the comics themselves and nicky liking the movies. nicky would argue theories with him for the sole purpose of riling him up. just out here with the most bullshit takes that even he doesnt believe just to see kevin annoyed. matt would bounce ideas off him for what the next issues will have and then they have a competition to see who can predict things faster/more accurately. they go to the comic book store together because andrew thinks kevin takes too long to decide which issues he wants to get and matt likes giving suggestions on older comics he thinks kevin will like. kevin also keeps all his comics in protective sleeves when hes not reading them because he doesnt want to damage them

do you think hed try out cosplay??? im picturing him and matt going all out on talking the team into group cosplay, first for halloween and then later for a local convention that catches their eye

im trying to decide who kevin would go as. my heart is telling me booster gold from dc even though i know very very little about him. i just think kevin would like the guy whose job it is to protect the time stream

hed rope allison into helping him make the cosplay because shes a fashion major (iirc from the extra content, its been a while since ive read it) and the result is an absolutely killer cosplay thats high quality and the details are spot on because kevin would NOT be caught dead in a cosplay with inaccuracies

team bonding over cosplay happens SO much once kevin realizes he isnt just confined to halloween. he drags them with him to conventions and geeks tf out. i can see him leaning more towards cosplaying bucky than steve, i think hed like the fact that bucky as the winter soldier is involved in various historical events in the background

he suggests neil cosplay deadpool because neil is an instigator and so is wade wilson. i can see matt and dan doing superman and wonder woman. idk when in irl gwen stacy was introduced as a spider character rather than just peter parkers love interest so idk if it would work for the aftg time frame but i can also see renee cosplaying her. if not i think shed go as stephanie brown (spoiler/the third batgirl/the fourth robin in dc comics). also andrew as wolverine lmfao. maybe aaron as venom/eddie brock. nicky would go as nightwing. allison would do starfire i think
