wicked backlog post: thoughts on Elphaba/Fiyero and straight ships

saw a bunch of posts defending fiyeraba when i tried to find fanart because shipping wars are insane and while im lowkey nervous to post this and get involved, i do have something i wanna say:

a lot of posts were pointing out that fiyeraba isnt necessarily a straight ship because if its two bisexuals (like many people agree that elphaba and fiyero are), its still a queer relationship despite being straight-passing. and this is very true and an excellent point

but theres another point i want to make: a ship being queer doesnt make it morally superior to a straight ship

its okay to be frustrated with how many more straight ships there are compared to queer ships, its okay to want queer representation, its okay to ship what you want. but that doesnt make you and your ship morally superior

i wont get into my opinions on why i like fiyeraba better, because im probably going to be hated enough as is for this, but i just… youre not superior because you think elphaba and glinda should be together. ship what you want but dont shit on others for liking a m/f ship

and before you come at me, im saying this as a queer person. if youre gonna send me hate, dont call me cishet. im neither of those things. if youre gonna hate me, hate me accurately
