its been years since ive read the extra content but ive seen a few people talk about how nora says andrew is misogynistic and how that doesnt really fit with how hes portrayed in the books

and while i get that sentiment and i somewhat agree to a very small extent, i do think that its still there just not in a stereotypical way

hes not thinking women are beneath him or weak or whatever, he thinks theyre dangerous and cant be trusted. he took both dan and renee to columbia to assess their threat levels. he wouldnt have done that if he overlooked them because theyre women

his deal with aaron is to protect aaron from women specifically because hes seen what happens when aaron doesnt fight back because his abuser is a woman

just because andrews willing to hit a woman like an equal doesnt mean he respects her. it means he sees her as a threat

we see him react WAY more violently when allison backhands aaron than he does after matt punches kevin twice. matt only gets punched twice to even it out. allison nearly gets a broken neck

andrew doesnt trust women because people often overlook any danger theyre capable of due to them being women. so so so many people refuse to hit a woman for the sole reason of their gender. andrew doesnt but that doesnt make him a feminist and it doesnt mean he respects women as equal. it just means hes assessing what he sees as a threat and acting accordingly
