whenever i reread the foxhole court and neils being shown his gear for the first time, i get to the part where he sees the windbreaker dan got him like she got for the whole team and nicky explains why she did, and it makes me so full of emotion that it bothers me that we never learn if neil actually wears it ever. i know when hes trying to blend in probably not because its neon orange but like. not even after baltimore?? where he doesnt NEED to blend in anymore and he can finally appreciate the well-meaning "she said she was tired of everyone trying to look past us. people want to pretend people like us don't exist, you know? everyone hopes we're someone else's problem to solve. they don't understand, so they don't know where to start. they feel overwhelmed and give up before they've taken the first step" that nicky explains when he first sees the windbreaker and he can really truly understand why dan commissioned them? neil would absolutely get behind the sentiment once he knows he gets to stay with the foxes. he would adore that fucking windbreaker and i want to see him wearing it. i want andrew rolling his eyes at how often neil wears it. i want dan beaming with pride about it all happy that he appreciates the gift. i want neil and dan bullying the team into a group photo wearing them. i want neil continuing the tradition of getting them for each new recruit after dan graduates and hes captain. he would love that fucking windbreaker and i need to know how often he wears it
